Developed through the Challenge Facility for Civil Society mechanism, this tool is a practical, experience-informed community engagement package developed by the Stop TB Partnership and REACH, in close collaboration with TB Champions, survivor-led networks and civil society organisations across multiple countries. It is a comprehensive resource that outlines various processes in identifying, training and meaningfully engaging TB survivors in a national or local TB response.
The tool draws directly on experiences, insights, and collective wisdom. As such, this is not a technical guideline written about communities; instead, it is a community-authored resource, written with and by people affected by TB. The priorities, and perspectives reflected here are those of TB survivors who have transitioned into TB Champions, and of survivor-led networks that have emerged from lived experience.
With support from Stop TB Partnership, APCASO implemented the regional orientation and multi-country rollout of the DR-TB Champions Toolkit in 4 countries, namely Indonesia, Mongolia, the Philippines, and Sri Lanka. This project, which aims to build and increase engagement and advocacy capacities of existing community-led organisations of TB survivors and affected communities to generate demand for accessing DR-TB services in Asia-Pacific, included the translation of the toolkit in Indonesian, Mongolian, Sinhala.
