In Sri Lanka, our country partner, Diversity and Solidarity Trust (DAST), convened 20 participants mostly from civil society organisations and communities affected by HIV, TB, and malaria in the development of the campaign strategy. This is part of DAST’s Rollout of the Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness, and Response (PPPR) Community Toolkit.
Sri Lanka’s strategy focused on five campaign objectives: (1) awareness raising and capacity-building among civil society and communities on disaster situation and on PPPR; (2) jointly develop agreed community and civil society action plans to coordinate community responses in disaster and emergency situations and for PPPR; (3) build strategic partnerships with relevant stakeholders to strengthen communities and civil society engagement in emergency and disaster situations and for PPPR; (4) collaborate with communities and civil society to influence emergency and disaster-related national policies; and (5) strategic information development.
One of their campaign activities included developing a People’s Statement on PPPR. You may download the Sinhala version by clicking on the button on the left, or the English version by clicking here.
